Diagnosis: mouth inferior; lips weakly or moderately developed; two pairs of well developed barbels, anterior pair about half as long as posterior pair which is about one eye diameter in length; last simple ray of dorsal fin flexible, not serrated, measuring 0.75x HL; lower jaw reaching to, or beyond, anterior margin of eye; black stripe on each lobe of caudal fin (Ref. 81639). Description: large species; lips moderately developed, lower lip continuous; scales with parallel striae; scale formula: 4.5-5.5/24 31/4.5/2/12; D: III-IV, 9; A: III, 5; P: 15-16; V: 10; lateral line complete; dorsal fin with concave border (Ref. 81639). Coloration: ground color olive dorsally, golden brown on flanks and belly; dorsal scales with dark basal marking; dorsal fin blackish proximally; prominent black bar along each caudal lobe (Ref. 81639).
