Biology

Occurs over shallow water with a soft mud bottom. A few specimens have been caught over sand (Ref. 4983). Feeds mainly on insects (esp. larval Diptera) and mollusks ( particularly the bivalve Corbicula, although some gastropods like Melanoides are also eaten (Ref. 558).
