Dorsal origin behind anal fin origin; ratio between base of dorsal and base of anal = 0.7-0.9 body depth 3.1-4.6 x SL; depth of peduncle 2.0-3.6 x of its length.

Potamodromous. Migrating within streams, migratory in rivers, e.g. Saliminus, Moxostoma, Labeo. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.
