Sporophyte consists of a thin blade that does not have a mid-rib and attains a size of approximately 50cm wide and 2m tall. At the transition zone, the edge of the blade thickens to for a v-shape that is sulfur yellow in color. The stipe is flattened, but solid, reaching a length of about 1m and leading to semidiscoidal holdfast.

Grows on rock in the shallow subtidal typically at semi-exposed or exposed habitats.
