Ricinus communis (Castor Oil Plant) is a species of shrub in the family Euphorbiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Nigeria, Afghanistan, Botswana, Angola, Hungary, Algeria, Benin, Morocco, Syria, Iran, Israel, Egypt, Lesotho, Jordan, Kenya, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Pakistan, South Africa, and Turkey. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Broad-billed Hummingbird and Halictus lucidipennis. Individuals can grow to 3.4 m.
