Cyperus distans (Piedmont Flatsedge) is a species of perennial herb in the family sedges. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Maranhao, Puerto Rico, ParaíBa, Pará, Mato Grosso, The Contiguous United States, Sergipe, Bahia, Amapá, Espirito Santo, Piauí, RondôNia, SãO Paulo, Ceará, Amazônia, Roraima, GoiáS, Caatinga, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pampa, Mata Atlântica, Rio Grande Do Norte, Pernambuco, Rio De Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Acre (Brazil), Alagoas, Pantanal, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Cerrado, Rio Grande Do Sul, and Tocantins. They have simple, broad leaves.
