Heteropogon contortus (Tanglehead) is a species of perennial grass in the family True grasses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Acre (Brazil), Puerto Rico, The Hawaiian Islands, AmazôNia, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Contiguous United States, Maranhao, Ceará, Cerrado, Piauí, and Caatinga. They have simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by Lipotriches bigibba. Individuals can grow to 0.43 m.
