They are native to Portugal, Uzbekistan, Israel, France, Western North America, Nicaragua, Iraq, Spain, Syria, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Greece, Russia, Algeria, Iran, Tunisia, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, North America, Libya, and Morocco. They have simple, broad leaves, yellow flowers, and dry fruit. Individuals can grow to 1.3 feet.
