Aloe dinteri ist eine Pflanzenart der Gattung der Aloen in der Unterfamilie der Affodillgewächse (Asphodeloideae). Das Artepitheton dinteri ehrt den deutschen Botaniker Kurt Dinter.[1]
Aloe dinteri wächst einzeln, ist stammlos und erreicht Wuchshöhen von 26 Zentimeter und ist ebenso breit. Die etwa zwölf lanzettlich spitz zulaufenden, gefaltet-gekielten Laubblätter sind dreireihig angeordnet. Zu ihrer Spitze hin sind sie im Querschnitt V-förmig. Die schokoladenbraune oder dunkel bräunlichgrüne Blattspreite ist 20 bis 30 Zentimeter lang und 5 bis 8 Zentimeter breit. Auf der Blattoberfläche befinden sich viele verlängerte, weiße Flecken, die mehr oder weniger in Querbändern angeordnet sind. Der schmale weiße Blattrand ist knorpelig. Der Kiel auf der Unterseite hat einen 1 Millimeter starken knorpeligen Rand. Die weißen festen Zähne am Blattrand sind 0,5 Millimeter lang und stehen 1 bis 2 Millimeter voneinander entfernt. In Richtung der Blattspitze werden sie kleiner und stehen gedrängter. Der Kiel ist mit ähnlichen Zähnen besetzt.
Der Blütenstand besteht aus drei bis acht Zweigen und ist 50 bis 85 Zentimeter lang. Die lockeren, zylindrisch spitz zulaufenden Trauben sind 15 bis 20 Zentimeter lang und 7 Zentimeter breit. Die lanzettlich-deltoiden Brakteen laufen sehr spitz zu und sind etwas kürzer als die Blütenstiele. Die hell rosaroten, bläulich bereiften Blüten werden zu ihrer Mündung hin heller bis fast weiß. Die Blüten sind 28 bis 30 Millimeter lang und an ihrer Basis gerundet. Auf Höhe des Fruchtknotens weisen sie einen Durchmesser von 6,5 Millimeter auf. Darüber sind sie auf 3,5 Millimeter verengt und schließlich zu ihrer Mündung hin erweitert. Ihre äußeren Perigonblätter sind auf einer Länge von bis zu 10 Millimetern nicht miteinander verwachsen. Die Staubblätter und der Griffel ragen 1 Millimeter aus der Blüte heraus.
Aloe dinteri ist in Namibia auf Kalksteinfelsen in niedrigem Busch verbreitet.

Aloe dinteri wird in der Roten Liste gefährdeter Arten der IUCN als „Least Concern (LC)“, d. h. als in der Natur nicht gefährdet, eingestuft.[3]

Gonialoe dinteri, the Namibian partridge aloe, is a species of flowering plant in the Asphodelaceae family.[2] It is native to arid areas of Angola and Namibia.[3]
The plants form stemless rosettes of up to 30 cm wide. Smaller suckers sometimes offshoot from the main stem. The long sharp, triangular leaves are dark brownish green with white linear spots and cartilaginous margins. Tall, very thin multi-branched inflorescences appear from January to March, with small sparse pale pink and sometimes bluish flowers.
It is named after German botanist Kurt Dinter. Taxonomically, it was formerly part of the Serrulatae series of three very closely related Aloe species, together with Gonialoe variegata and Gonialoe sladeniana. Recent phylogenetic studies have shown these three species to constitute an entirely separate genus, what was published under the name Gonialoe.[4]
While this species looks rather similar to its two sister species, it can be distinguished from Gonialoe sladeniana by its longer leaves which curve downwards, and it can be distinguished from Gonialoe variegata by its large size, taller thinner sparser inflorescence, and the spots on its leaves being more linear, almost to the point of being stripes. The bracts of G.dinteri are 3 nerved, unlike its sister species which are 1 nerved. G.dinteri also has an unusually large root stock; its roots form a far larger percentage of its body weight than all the rest of the plant put together.[5]
Gonialoe dinteri is found in sparse populations across a large arid area of Namibia and around the verges of the Namib desert. It usually occurs in deep cracks in limestone or granite rock, or growing under scrub. It is listed in the IUCN Red List under the species synonym Aloe dinteri.[1]
What little rain there is in this area, tends to fall in the summer. Towards the south, as the climate gradually gives way to a winter-rainfall climate, Gonialoe dinteri is replaced by Gonialoe sladeniana which inhabits the central intermediate zone, and finally by Gonialoe variegata even further south where winter-rainfall climate predominates.[6][7][8]
This species can be grown in cultivation, but needs dry conditions and very well-drained porous soil. It is relatively cold-hardy, due to the low nighttime temperatures of its desert habitat. [9]

En esta especie, las raíces forman mucho más masa total de la planta que el tallo, las hojas y las inflorescencias. Esta desproporción es única en su género. Las brácteas de Aloe dinteri son tri-nervadas, no con un solo nervio, como en Aloe variegata y Aloe sladeniana.[3][4]
Aloe dinteri se encuentra en Namibia en las áreas de lluvias de verano, por lo general firmemente sostenida en las grietas de las rocas calizas. A veces también se produce en el granito, en la sabana cerca del borde del desierto del Namib.
