Xerophyllum tenax is a species of perennial herb in the family Melanthiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Western North America, United States, Canada, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves, white flowers, and loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Anastrangalia laetifica, Cheilosia hoodiana, Lasioglossum athabascense, and Trichodes ornatus. Individuals can grow to 5 feet.
