This wild salamander found itself in the cold rainforest room of the greenhouse. We're not certain when it got inside, but it seemed to have gotten fat on slugs.
Adult with parotoid glands located behind eyes. Above dark brown; below gray. Believed to be male with bulbous vent, and tail exceeding its body length. It measured SVL 95 mm (3 in.), TL 203 mm (8 in.). In morning this salamander was found in campground restroom. Night before finding this salamander the illuminated restroom was invested for animals but only mosquitoes and banana slug were detected. Salamander likely entered later that night via an open, ground level, wall vent. Back of building borders steep, moist, fern and pine-covered slope. Assumed butting pose when handled.
