General Description

provided by Cybertruffle
On Potato Sucrose Agar (PSA). Colonies. After 4 days growth is 5.75 cm diam., with white aerial mycelium and no pigmentation. On Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Colonies. After 10 days growth is 8.3 cm length, with white aerial mycelium and no obvious pigmentation; production of "chlamydospores" not observed. Conidia. Of only one type; macroconidia thin walled, slender, straight or gently curved, 3- to 5-septate, 20-55 × 3-4 μm, each with a tapered apical cell and foot-shaped or notched basal cell; microconidia not observed. Notes. This species is able to grow on Glycerol Nitrate Agar (G25N) with growth exceeding 2 cm diam., producing reddish white aerial mycelium and orange pigmentation; growth on mannitol medium exceeds 4 cm diam. with light yellow aerial mycelium and orange pigmentation; growth on Czapek-Dox Iprodione Dichloran Agar (CZID) exceeds 2.5cm diam. with white aerial mycelium and light yellow pigmentation. This species produces phosphatase enzyme, but does not grow on tannin-sucrose agar.
