Capoeta trutta, the longspine scraper, is a species cyprinid fish from the Middle East. It is known from inland waters in Iran, Iraq, Syria Armenia and Turkey, and is often quite abundant.^[1]

It spawns in running waters, but inhabits in other times also many other habitats including reservoirs and marshes. Most commonly it is found in slowly running lowland rivers.^[1]

Capoeta trutta is commonly used as a food fish.^[1] It may grow up to 48 cm length.^[2]

Capoeta trutta is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de eigenlijke karpers (Cyprinidae).^[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1843 door Johann Jakob Heckel.^[2]

C. trutta werd in 1836 verzameld in rivieren bij Aleppo en de Tigris bij Mosoel (Syrië) tijdens een wetenschappelijke reis van de geoloog Joseph Russegger.
