For field identification purposes, it is easily distinguished from all species of Devario by its color pattern including a wide light horizontal band along the middle of the side bordering a wide dark lateral band along the abdominal side, and the long rostral and maxillary barbels (Ref. 84468).Description: Dorsal fin ii.7½, ii.8½; anal fin iii.11½ , iii.12½; pectoral fin rays i.12, i.13; pelvic fin i.6, i.7 (Ref. 84468).

Occurs in a small, high-altitude stream with a cascade and riffle-pool habitat and with width of 2.27 m and at depth at most about 30 cm (Ref. 84468).

Betadevario ramachandrani

Betadevario ramachandrani is a species of cyprinid fish that is found only in the upper Seetha River drainage in Karnataka, India. It is the only member of its genus, Betadevario. It was found in cascade and riffle-pools of a high-altitude stream.
