Description:
Description: Cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) leaves turn yellow and orange in a muskeg in Sitka, AK on the Tongass National Forest. Cloudberries look like yellow raspberries when they ripen. Cloudberries grow in the northern hemisphere’s boreal and arctic habitats, and are a favored fruit by people of the north. The Cloudberry plants are nestled with Labrador tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum), cranberries (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) and crowberry (Empetrum nigrum). Photo credit by Mary Stensvold.
