Description: Cardwell's beardtongue (Penstemon cardwellii), Plantain family (Plantaginaceae). Planted in my front yard, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Very similar to Penstemon fruticosus, differing only in the more oval leaves. Although, in these photographs, I do not see much difference between the species, to be able to ID them with certainty.
