Substratum: brown soil.Place: Lower Trenta valley, most east meadow on Lemovlje flats, above village Soa, East Julian Alps, Posoje, Slovenia EC Comment: Growing solitary and in groups, many species. Juniperus communis ssp. communis is a quite long-term pioneer species on former mountain pastures, where beach and spruce forest used to form potential natural vegetation. On Lemovlje the conditions seem to be very favorable for this species. The shrubs grow up to 5 m height, which is a considerable size for this species in alpine phytogeographical region.Canon G11, 6.1-30mm/f2.8-4.5
