The Assam laughingthrush (Trochalopteron chrysopterum) is a species of bird in the family Leiothrichidae. It is found in Northeast India and adjacent southwest China and Myanmar.

The species was formerly regarded as a subspecies of the chestnut-crowned laughingthrush, T. erythrocephalum.

El charlatán de Assam (Trochalopteron chrysopterum)^[2]​ es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Leiothrichidae propia de las montañas del noreste del subcontinente indio. Anteriormente se consideraba una subespecie del charlatán coronicastaño, pero ahora se consideran especies separadas.^[3]​

Distribución y hábitat

Se encuentra en las montañas del este del subcontinente indio, distribuido por el noroeste de la India y las regiones adyacentes del sureste de China y Birmania. Su hábitat natural son los bosques húmedos subtropicales de montaña y las zonas de matorral.

Verspreiding en leefgebied

Deze soort telt 5 ondersoorten:

• T. c. chrysopterum: Meghalaya (noordoostelijk India).
• T. c. godwini: zuidelijk Assam, Nagaland en noordelijk Manipur (noordoostelijk India).
• T. c. erythrolaemum: zuidoostelijk Manipur, Mizoram (noordoostelijk India) en westelijk Myanmar.
• T. c. woodi: noordelijk Myanmar en westelijk Yunnan (zuidwestelijk China).
• T. c. ailaoshanense: centraal Yunnan (zuidelijk China).

Assamfnittertrast^[2] (Trochalopteron chrysopterum) är en fågel i familjen fnittertrastar inom ordningen tättingar.^[3]

Utbredning och systematik

Assamfnittertrast delas upp i fem underarter med följande utbredning:^[3]

• T. c. chrysopterum – bergsskogar i södra Assam (söder om Brahmaputra)
• T. c. godwini – bergsskogar i sydöstra Assam (bergsområdet Barail)
• T. c. erythrolaemum – östra Manipur och sydvästra Myanmar (Chin Hills och bergsområdet Arakan Yoma)
• T. c. woodi – nordöstra Burma (Kachin och norra Shan States) och närliggande sydvästra Yunnan
• T. c. ailaoshanense – södra Kina (Ailao Shan, Yunnan)

Tidigare behandlades den som en del av kastanjekronad fnittertrast (Trochalopteron erythrocephalum) och vissa gör det fortfarande.^[4]

Status

IUCN kategoriserar arten som livskraftig.^[1]
