A shrub, 2-5 m. high, much branched, the branches, petioles and rachis tomentose. Stipules small, linear, spreading, caducous; leaflets 3-8 pairs, 8-20 mm. long, oval to oblong, obtuse, glabrous above, somewhat pubescent beneath, ciliate; gland between the lower pair of leaflets cylindric, black, obtuse; inflorescence paniculate, the racemes few-flowered; bracts small, linear; pedicels elongated; sepals orbicular, obtuse, pubescent; petals 2-3 times as long as the sepals, obtuse; legume about 5 cm. long.
Type locality: Mexico. Distribution: Mexico; Hispaniola.
