Theora mesoptamica was named Theora cadabra. In 1956, Dr Frank Eames and G. L. Wilkins named it 'Abra cadabra' after the phrase used by magicians and used in ancient times as an incantation against fever. This fossil bivalve had a pearly white shell and probably resembled the living Theora lubrica. It lived in the seas of the Middle East. Specimens have been found near Basrah in Southern Iraq.
