The narrow-billed antwren (Formicivora iheringi) is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is endemic to eastern Brazil where it occurs in Bahia and Minas Gerais states. Its natural habitat is deciduous and semi-deciduous forest between 250 and 1,050 metres above sea level. It is threatened by habitat loss. The narrow-billed antwren is sometimes put in the monotypic genus Neorhopias.
The narrow-billed antwren exhibits sexual dimorphism. The male is dark grey, with a black breast. It has 2 white wing bars and white tips on the outer tail feathers. The female, however, is olive breasted and with brown wings.[2] It has been noted that these birds also look very similar to the silvery-flanked antwren.
The narrow-billed antwren is a tree living bird, and is found in pairs or small mixed flocks. It engages in gleaning behavior while foraging and sometimes uses its tail to scare insects into flight.

Se distribuye en el este de Brasil, en el interior del este de Bahía y noreste de Minas Gerais.[3]
Esta especie es considerada rara a poco común en su hábitat natural: el estrato medio de bosques caducifolios y semicaducifolios tropicales entre los 500 y los 900 m de altitud. Aparentemente prefiere interiores de «mata-de-cipó» (bosques abundantes en lianas) y fragmentos de bromelias terrestres.[1][5]
La especie F. iheringi fue descrita por primera vez por el ornitólogo austríaco Carl Eduard Hellmayr en 1909 bajo el mismo nombre científico; su localidad tipo es: «Senhor do Bonfim, Bahía, Brasil.»[6]
El nombre genérico femenino «Formicivora» se compone de las palabras del latín «formica»: hormiga y «vorare»: devorar; significando «devorador de hormigas»;[7] y el nombre de la especie «iheringi», conmemora al zoólogo alemán Hermann von Ihering (1850–1930).[8]
La presente especie difiere de muchas formas de las otras especies de su género y podría merecer tratamiento como un género monotípico según Zimmer & Isler (2003).[9] Fue propuesto un género propio Neorhopias.[10]
