Hamadryas amphinome is found in North America only as a stray occurring in Texas and Arizona; it is resident from Mexico south to Argentina (Scott 1986). Habitats are tropical forest clearings. Host plants are vines restricted several species in genus Dalechampia (Euphorbiaceae). Eggs are laid in strings of five to ten on top of each other, with 30-100 eggs in a clutch. There are multiple flights all year in Mexico, esp. July 1-Oct 31 (Scott 1986).

Adults feed on rotten fruit and mud, not flowers. (Scott, 1986).
