Trees or shrubs. Leaves alternate, petiolate. Inflorescence an axillary cyme. Sepals 5, persistent. Petals 5, yellow to white. Stamens usually numerous, fused into fascicles opposite the petals. Ovary semi-inferior, 3-locular. Capsule apically loculicidal; half exserted from the hypanthium. Seeds linear-cuneate. Seeds usually winged.
