Ten species out of more than 45 have been cited in haline waters. Testudinella bicorniculata, T.clypeata, T. dentata, T. elongata, T. obscura, T. pseudobscura, T. quadrilobata and T. zhujiangensis are strictly haline, living in marine and/or brackish waters; the others are euryhaline (T. crassa and T. patina).
