Alburnus danubicus ist eine ausgestorbene Fischart aus der Familie der Karpfenfische. Sie galt ursprünglich als Unterart der Mairenke (Alburnus chalcoides) und war in Rumänien endemisch.

Merkmale

Alburnus danubicus erreichte eine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von über 20 Zentimetern. Es gab 68 bis 70 Schuppen auf dem Seitenlinienorgan. Die Anzahl der verzweigten Analflossenstrahlen betrug 17 bis 20 ½. Der Ausgangspunkt der Analflossenstrahlen war 1 ½ bis 2 ½ Schuppen hinter der Basis des letzten Dorsalflossenstrahls.

Verbreitung

Alburnus danubicus kam im Razim-See (Lacul Razim), im heute fast verschwundenen Zaton-See (Lacul Zaton) sowie im Sinoe-See (Lacul Sinoe) im Donau-Delta und in der Donau bei Cernavodă in Rumänien vor.

Status

Alburnus danubicus ist nur vom Holotypus aus dem Jahre 1909 und einem weiteren Fund aus dem Jahre 1943 bekannt geworden. Vermutlich lebte die Art bis 1940 im Unterlauf der Donau. Es existieren keine Museumsexemplare.

Alburnus danubicus is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Alburnus. It was known from coastal lakes in Romania and River Danube in Romania and Bulgaria. It is extinct and has not been recorded since 1943.^[1]

In 2019, a somewhat mysterious specimen was caught from River Danube, at Petrovaradin, Serbia. It might have been Alburnus danubicus, falsifying its status as an extinct species. Alternatively, it might have been an individual of Alburnus mento that moved down on the river very far from its native area in Upper Austria. The specimen was released alive after photography.^[2]

This species is found in temperate, benthopelagic, freshwater. Distinguishable by its branched anal-fin rays and lateral line scales.^[3]

Alburnus danubicus est une espèce de poisson d'eau douce de la famille des Cyprinidae désormais éteinte. Elle n'est connue que par deux spécimens prélevés en 1909 et 1943^[3].

Répartition

Alburnus danubicus se rencontrait dans les lacs côtiers et dans le Danube en Roumanie et Bulgarie^[3].

Description

Dans sa description originale, l'auteur indique que cette espèce mesure en moyenne 220 à 250 mm^[4]. En revanche FishBase indique une taille maximale de seulement 200 mm.

Elle est décrite au départ comme une sous-espèce de Alburnus chalcoides.

Nom vernaculaire

L'auteur indique que cette espèce était appelée localement Obleti mari ou Obleti de mare^[4].
