Clitopilus irregularis Peck, Bull. Torrey Club 26: 65. 1899.
Pileus thin, irregular, sometimes eccentric, nearly plane, usually cespitose, 2.5 cm. broad; surface glabrous, reddish-brown; context white; lamellae rather broad, subdistant, decurrent, whitish, becoming tinged with flesh-color; spores ellipsoid, pale-fleshcolored, 6-7 X 3-4 /x; stipe short, solid or spongy within, externally fibrous, concolorous, about 2.5 cm. long, 2-4 mm. thick.
Type locality: London, Ontario, Canada.
Habitat: Manured, ground.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
