Ye una planta rizomatusa con tarmos qu'algamen un tamañu de 20-50 cm d'altor, ascendentes, maderizos na base, con numberoses fueyes. Fueyes d'hasta 13 x 6,5 mm, oblongues o oblongo-llanceolaes, de crenulaes a llixeramente serraes, carnoses. Bráctees involucrales ovaes; les esternes dafechu blancu-aracnoideas; les más internes subglabres na metá inferior. Flores de 4 mm, con tubu de c. 2,5 mm. Los frutos son aquenios de 2,5-3 mm, trígonos o tetrágonos, xeneralmente estruyíos pola cara dorsal. Tien un númberu de cromosomes de 2n = 18 (Cádiz, Huelva), 36. Floria y fructifica de Mayu a Setiembre.[3]
Alcuéntrase nos arenales marítimos de les mariñes del Océanu Atlánticu, dende Islandia hasta Canaries (Lanzarote y Gran Canaria), y del Mediterraneu.
