Theratromyxa

Medium to large (40-300 µm) amoeboid and multinucleated plasmodial organism described from soils, moves by creeping with cytoplasm described as 'flowing'; consumes nematode larvae which adhere to the cell, and may also consume fungi (Old & Oros, 1980), life cycle may involve cysts, and cell can divide into many smaller amoebae. Cytoplasmic reticulum usually of broad tracts of cytoplasm but may produce thin pseudopodia - although detailed information is not available. Considerable similarity with other large reticulate amoebae, several of which have also been reported from soils (e.g. Arachnula and Leptophrys).
