Plants very small, 3–6 mm high, in dense tufts. Stems erect, simple, rarely branched. Leaves crowded at the stem tips, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, shortly apiculate; margins entire, plane or sometimes crenulate near the apex; costa excurrent in a short awn; upper leaf cells short-rectangular to hexagonal, thin-walled, smooth; basal cells rectangular, smooth, hyaline. Autoicous. Setae elongate, 3–8 mm long; capsules erect, broadly obovoid; opercula conic-rostrate, persistent with columella; peristome teeth absent.
