Polinices aurantius is a species of predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Naticidae, the moon snails.[1]

Foi classificada com o nome Albula aurantium por Peter Friedrich Röding, em 1798, na obra Museum Boltenianum sive Catalogus cimeliorum e tribus regnis naturae quae olim collegerat Joa. Fried. Bolten M. D. p. d. Pars secunda continens Conchylia sive Testacea univalvia, bivalvia et multivalvia.[1]
Concha de coloração alaranjada a amarelada, em sua superfície polida e ovalada, dotada de espiral baixa de até três voltas; com até 5.8 centímetros de comprimento, quando desenvolvida. Por baixo é visível um umbílico, próximo à sua columela branca e seu lábio externo, que é fino; com abertura, próxima, também branca. Opérculo córneo, fechando totalmente a abertura semicircular da sua concha.[4][5][6]

A espécie vive em substrato de areias claras até uma profundidade de 20 metros.[4]
Polinices aurantius ocorre no oceano Pacífico, entre as Filipinas e a Indonésia, no Sudeste Asiático, até Queensland, na costa nordeste da Austrália, e Melanésia.[2][3][6][7]
Enquanto a sua etimologia de gênero, Polinices, é um personagem da mitologia grega, o seu epíteto específico latino, aurantius, descreve algo com a cor laranja ou fulva.[8]

桔色乳玉螺[2]:162(学名:Polinices aurantius),又名黄金玉螺[3],是一個捕食性海螺的物種,屬於玉螺科乳玉螺属[2]:162[3]的一種海洋腹足綱軟體動物[1]。
殼高約2.7公分,貝殼卵形而呈黃橙色,甚有光澤,殼頂及殼底白色[3]。如同其他同屬乳玉螺亞科的物種,本物種的臍孔完全被其殻口的內唇滑層遮蓋[3]。
本物種見於台灣海峽[4][5]、菲律賓[6]、印度尼西亚[3][7],也見於印度洋的馬達加斯加[8]。 常栖息在浅海海底[3][4]。
