Chlorostoma Swainson 1840

Chlorostoma is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Tegulidae.^[2]

Description

The solid, conical shell is umbilicate or imperforate. The spire is elevated or depressed. The oblique aperture is subrhomboidal. The outer lip is smooth within. The arcuate columella is above continued in a callus over or halfway around the umbilicus, which when open shows one or more spiral ribs inside. The base of the columella shows two or more denticles.^[3]

Chlorostoma es un género de gasterópodos marinos de la familia Tegulidae.^[2]​

Descripción

Tienen una concha cónica, baja y sin ornamentación. La columela está curvada y forma un callo sobre el ombligo, que cuando es abierto deja ver una o más costillas que la recorren longitudinalmente. El labio interno de su boca es liso, y puede cubrir el ombligo.^[3]​

Tienen un opérculo córneo que sirve para obturar la boca de su concha como protección, cuando se retraen.

Distribución

Viven en las aguas litorales de las costas templadas y cálidas del Pacífico norte y el mar Caribe.^[4]​
