Hemidactylus angulatus is a species of gecko. It is found in central and western Africa, as well as introduced to Cape Verde, Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic and Haiti), Puerto Rico, and Cuba in the Caribbean, and Ecuador and Colombia in South America.[2]

Hemidactylus angulatus est une espèce de geckos de la famille des Gekkonidae[1]. C'est le gecko commun africain, celui le plus courant en zone habitée. Par contre, il est moins présent en forêt dense[2].
H. angulatus possède des tubercules clairs et d’autres sombres. La coloration est presque translucide chez les spécimens des maisons exposés à la lumière, brunâtre avec des dessins sombres en milieu naturel. Cette espèce ne dépasse pas 14 cm (adultes)[2].
Cette espèce se rencontre au Sénégal, en Gambie, en Guinée-Bissau, en Guinée, en Sierra Leone, au Liberia, en Côte d'Ivoire, au Burkina Faso, au Ghana, au Togo, au Bénin, au Nigeria, au Niger, au Cameroun, au Gabon, en Centrafrique, au Soudan du Sud, en Ouganda et en Tanzanie[1].
Elle a une répartition subsaharienne très large.
Elle a été introduite au Venezuela, en Colombie, à Cuba, à Hispaniola et à Porto Rico.

Afrikansk husgekko (Hemidactylus angulatus) er en gekko som er naturlig utbredt i Afrika sør for Sahara. Arten er nylig skilt ut fra Brooks halvfingergekko (H. brookii).
Carranza & Arnold publiserte i 2006 en studie av mitokondrielt DNA i slekten Hemidactylus.[1] Det viste seg at de afrikanske og asiatiske populasjonene av Brooks halvfingergekko tilhører to ulike klader innenfor halvfingergekkoene. Den afrikanske gruppen blir derfor nå kalt H. angulatus, mens H. brookii bare skal brukes om de asiatiske formene.
Innenfor H. angulatus er det også stor genetisk variasjon. H. haitianus fra Cuba er svært nær beslektet med H. angulatus fra øyene i Guineabukta, og må derfor regnes til sistnevnte art. Den krysset antakelig Atlanterhavet med slaveskipene. Forfatterne utelukker likevel ikke at H. haitianus fra Hispaniola, Puerto Rico og Colombia kan være en annen art enn H. angulatus. En artikkel fra 2010 regner derimot H. haitianus som et synonym for H. angulatus.[2]
