Always lives in large loggerhead sponges and other similar sponges (Ref. 7251). Live deep within canals of the sponges, near the openings to the incurrent canals. Sponges provide species with protection from predators and an available food source in many invertebrates. Eggs found within sponge or small plankton brought through incurrent pores (Ref. 92840).

Morfologia
Hàbitat
És un peix marí, de clima subtropical i demersal que viu fins als 27 m de fondària.[4]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba a l'Atlàntic occidental central: des de Carolina del Nord i el nord-est del Golf de Mèxic fins a Campeche (Mèxic).[4][6]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans.[4]

Vissen Evermannichthys spongicola is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de grondels (Gobiidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1917 door Radcliffe.
