Distinguished by the following characteristics: D1 VI, D2 I/I 1 - 12, A 1/11, P 17 - 18, C 16 - 17 principle rays (adult specimen with 13 branched rays; branching of fin rays not completed in the juvenile specimen); all rays of the first dorsal fin are elongated in the adult specimen (tips pronounced in the juvenile), with D1 III longest. ctenoid scales; LL 37, including scales on caudal fin (squamation not completely developed in juvenile specimen), TR 8; head, nape, predorsal area, breast, ventral side of abdomen (midline) and base of P naked; area anterior of a line from the dorsal origin of the pectoral fin to the origin of the second dorsal fin naked; anterior most scales in lateral midline reach the base of the pectoral fin in the adult specimen (only near to it in the juvenile); some of these most anterior scales are cycloid (Ref. 86376)

Gobius roulei, Roule's goby, is a species of goby native to the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea where it can be found at depths of from 320 to 385 metres (1,050 to 1,263 ft). This species can reach a length of 8 centimetres (3.1 in) TL. The specific name honours the French zoologist Louis Roule (1861-1942) who was the collector of the type.

Glavoč pješčani (lat. Gobius roulei) riba je iz porodice glavoča (lat Gobiidae). Neki ga nazivaju p svom latinskom imenu Ruleov glavoč. Ovo je mala ribica koja naraste do najviše 8 cm duljine, živi na većim dubinama 320-385 m a u Mediteranu i na manjim dubinama. O samoj ribi i njenom životu se malo zna, poznato je da su vrat i glava bez ljuštura, a ostatak tijela obrasta. Boja tijela nije potpuno utvrđena, a smatra se da je smeđe boje, bez posebnih oznaka. Rep mu je zaobljen, a gornja peraja podijeljena u dva dijela. Jedan od primjeraka se može vidjeti u zbirci Prirodoslovnog muzeja u Rijeci.
Rasprostranjenost
Norveški glavoč živi u istočnom Atlantiku jugoistočno od Portugala i u Mediteranu [1].

Distribuzione e habitat
È diffuso nel mar Mediterraneo occidentale, nell'Adriatico e lungo le coste atlantiche portoghesi.
Sembra vivere su fondi sabbiosi nei pressi di praterie di Posidonia oceanica.
Descrizione
Molto simile al ghiozzo nero anche per la pinna dorsale rilevata, si distingue per la nuca priva di squame e per il colore grigio sabbia con una fila di punti neri longitudinali. I maschi riproduttori non sono neri.
Sembra non superare i 7 cm.
