A benthic species abundant in shallow (5-12 m) reefs with low to medium relief and substratum covered by encrusting, sessile, filter-feeding ascidians, sponges, bryozoans and octocorals, also with abudnand coralline algae. It comprises 32% of cryptic ichthyofauna in such habitat. Carnivore, feeds on small crustaceans, mainly amphipods and isopods (Ref. 35802).

Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).

Voorkoms
Die vis het drie dorsale vinne. Die liggaam is liggekleurd met onreëlmatige bruin strepe op. Daar is 'n vertikale bruin streep onder die oog en daar is stekels om die oë. Die vis word tot 8 cm groot.
Habitat
Die vis leef in rots riwwe in water wat 5 – 20 m diep is.

The Cape triplefin, Cremnochorites capensis, is a triplefin blenny of the family Tripterygiidae and only member of the genus Cremnochorites, found in the western Indian Ocean and southeast Atlantic, from Sodwana Bay to False Bay in South Africa. It reaches a maximum length of 8 centimetres (3.1 in). It is found below the low tide mark down to 30 metres (98 ft) on rocky reefs.

Vissen Cremnochorites capensis is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van drievinslijmvissen (Tripterygiidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1908 door Gilchrist & Thompson.
