體延長，近似圓柱狀，尾部略側扁。上頜長於下頜，上頜骨向後延伸至眼後部下方；頜齒細小，呈齒帶。主鰓蓋具一短棘，前鰓蓋骨後緣呈鋸齒狀。鱗細小，側線完全，側線鱗數56-59。背鰭連續，具棘II，軟條22；臀鰭I棘，軟條17；胸鰭軟條18-19；尾鰭圓形。體呈褐色，腹面淡色，體側中央具一黃色縱帶；尾鰭前緣上端具一眼斑。

Kochichthys flavofasciatus és una espècie de peix de la família dels pingüipèdids i l'única del gènere Kochichthys.[6]
Etimologia
Kochichthys fa referència a Kochi, la capital de la prefectura de Kōchi i port marítim situat a l'illa de Shikoku (el Japó).[7]
Descripció
Fa 16 cm de llargària màxima.[8][7]
Alimentació
El seu nivell tròfic és de 3,41.[9]
Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica
És un peix marí, demersal i de clima subtropical, el qual viu al Pacífic nord-occidental: la badia de Tosa (el Japó)[3][8][10][11][12][13][14] i Taiwan.[15][4][7][16]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans.[7]

Kochichthys is a monotypic genus of percomorph fish from the family Pinguipedidae. The only species in the genus, Kochichthys flaviofasciatus, is found in the western Pacific in the waters around Japan, having been recorded only from Tosa Bay in Kōchi Prefecture on the island of Shikoku.
