Description: Characterized by pale brown color with black dots, small irregular, brown spots and large vague ocelli; caudal rays free from dorsal and anal fins; pectoral fins absent; lateral line of eyed side with 55-65 scales; second lateral line on blind side on dorsal edge of head; cycloid scales; tubular anterior nostril reaching anterior edge of lower eye when laid back; series of short barbels along lower edge of blind side of head; depth of body 2.4-2.5 in SL (Ref. 90102).

體長卵形，極側扁；兩眼在右側，眼間隔處具鱗片。前鼻管單一短小，伸達至極短小的後鼻管之前。頭短鈍。口小，近下位，僅盲側上下頜具細齒帶；腭骨無齒。兩側體側皆被圓鱗，側線被圓鱗。背鰭與臀鰭基部無孔，背鰭、臀鰭鰭條不分枝，或僅末端分枝，鰭膜上不被鱗；無胸鰭；腹鰭左右對稱或近對稱，眼側者基底短；尾鰭與背﹑臀鰭分離。眼側體淡灰褐色，有許多褐色雜斑及環紋，各鰭具褐色斑及小黑占；盲側淡黃白色，鰭色也較淡，且無斑點。

Hábitat
Vive en los estuarios.

Vissen Liachirus melanospilos is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van eigenlijke tongen (Soleidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1854 door Bleeker.

二名法 Liachirus melanospilusBleeker, 1854 黑斑圓鱗鰨沙，又稱星點圓鱗鰨 ，俗名龍舌、鰨沙、比目魚，为輻鰭魚綱鰈形目鰨科的一種。
分布
本魚分布于印度西太平洋區，包括印度、日本、中國、台灣、香港、馬來西亞、泰國、印尼、菲律賓、澳洲等海域。
深度
水深80至100公尺。
特徵
本魚體極側扁，呈卵圓形，口小，雙眼位於右側，魚體黃褐色；特徵是有眼側具有深褐色的不規則圓斑，並散布許多深褐色小斑點，尾柄明顯，尾鰭圓形，體長可達10公分。
生態
本魚平時大多停棲於海底，並將魚體埋藏於沙泥中，只露出兩眼觀察四周，能隨環境略為改變體色，游泳能力不佳，以波浪狀的方式上下擺動魚體來游泳，屬肉食性，以小型無脊椎動物為食。
經濟利用
可食用。
