Zosterops kirki Shelley 1880

Kirk's white-eye (Zosterops kirki) is a species of bird in the family Zosteropidae. It is endemic to the Comoros Islands. It was previously considered a subspecies of the Malagasy white-eye. Its common and binomial name are in honour of explorer John Kirk.

El anteojotos de Kirk (Zosterops kirki) es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Zosteropidae endémica de la isla Gran Comora,^[2]​ en el océano Índico occidental. Anteriormente se consideraba una subespecie del anteojitos malgache o del anteojitos senegalés.

Distribución y hábitat

El anteojitos de Kirk se encuentra únicamente en la isla principal de las Comoras, en el oeste de las islas Carolinas. Su hábitat natural son los bosques húmedos tropicales isleños.

Le Zostérops de Kirk (Zosterops kirki) est une espèce de passereaux appartenant à la famille des Zosteropidae. C'est une espèce monotypique.

Répartition

Cet oiseau est endémique de la Grande Comore aux Comores.

Kirkglasögonfågel^[2] (Zosterops kirki) är en fågel i familjen glasögonfåglar inom ordningen tättingar.^[3]

Utbredning och systematik

Fågeln återfinns på Grande Comore i Komorerna.^[3] Tidigare betraktades den som en underart till madagaskarglasögonfågel (Z. maderaspatanus) och vissa gör det fortfarande.^[4]

IUCN kategoriserar den som livskraftig.^[1]

Namn

Fågelns svenska och vetenskapliga artnamn hedrar John Kirk (1832-1922), skotsk naturforskare, ämbetsman och läkare medföljande David Livingstone på hans andra Zambeziexpedition 1858-1863.^[5]
