Al igual qu'otros tinámidos, el cabecirrojo alimentar de frutes qu'atopa nel suelu o en parrotales de poco porte. Tamién s'alimenta de pequeñes cantidaes d'invertebraos, brotos de flores, fueyes tienres, granes y raigaños. El machu guara los güevos que pueden provenir d'hasta cuatro femes distintos, y depués crialos hasta que tean llistos pa independizase, polo xeneral tres 2 o 3 selmanes. El nial atopar nel suelu ente parrotales trupos o raigaños.[5]

Der Gelbbrusttinamu (Nothocercus julius) ist ein Vogel aus der Familie der Steißhühner (Tinamidae). Er lebt im nordwestlichen Südamerika in feuchten Wäldern der montanen Stufe. Der Gelbbrusttinamu ist im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Arten der Familie nicht völlig flugunfähig, aber ein schlechter Flieger.
Der Gelbbrusttinamu wird etwa 35 bis 41 cm lang. Der Oberkopf ist matt kastanienbraun. Die Kehle ist weiß, die Brust und das Abdomen sind zimtfarben bis rötlich braun. Nacken und Rücken sind oliv bis rotbraun gefärbt. Die Füße sind graublau, der Schnabel an der Oberseite schwarz, an der Unterseite weißlich mit einer schwarzen Spitze.[1]
Der Gelbbrusttinamu kommt in den Anden Zentralkolumbiens, Ecuadors und Perus bis in den äußersten Westen Venezuelas vor. Er lebt in der montanen Stufe bis zu 1700 bis 3350 m Höhe.
Wie die meisten Tinamus essen die Gelbbrusttinamus Früchte von niedrigen Büschen. Sie essen auch kleine Mengen von wirbellosen Tieren, Blütenknospen, zarte Blätter, Samen und Wurzeln. Das Männchen brütet die Eier aus. Nach zwei bis drei Wochen schlüpfen die Jungen. Das Nest befindet sich in geringer Höhe zwischen angehobenen Wurzeln.
Der Gelbbrusttinamu wird bei IUCN als kaum bedroht eingestuft; er hat ein Verbreitungsgebiet von 110.000 km². Die Population in Peru ist auf kleine Gebiete beschränkt und könnte wegen ihrer abweichenden Färbung (rötlicher Oberkopf) eine eigene Unterart darstellen.[1] Diese wäre wegen ihres kleinen Verbreitungsgebietes stärker gefährdet.

The tawny-breasted tinamou has brown upperparts barred with black, and its wings have buff spots. Below its bright chestnut head, it has a white throat. Its breast and flanks are olivaceous brown, while the rest of its underparts are bright rufous. This tinamou measures 35.5–38 cm (14.0–15.0 in) in length.[5]
Like other tinamous, the tawny-breasted eats fruit off the ground or low-lying bushes. They also eat small amounts of invertebrates, flower buds, tender leaves, seeds, and roots. The male incubates the eggs which may come from as many as 4 different females, and then will raise them until they are ready to be on their own, usually 2–3 weeks. The nest is located on the ground in dense brush or between raised root buttresses.[4]
