It contains two species:

The two species historically comprised the sage sparrow complex, but were split in 2013 by the American Ornithological Society.

Both Artemisiospiza species inhabit dry areas of the western United States and northern Mexico.

Etymologia

Nazwa rodzajowa jest połączeniem nazwy rodzaju Artemisia, roślin z rodzaju astrowatych (w mitologii greckiej Artemis lub Diana była boginią księżyca wyspecjalizowaną w stosowaniu halucynogennych roślin) oraz greckiego słowa σπιζα spiza – „zięba” (σπιζω spizō – „ćwierkać”)^[5].

Takson przeniesione z rodzaju Amphispiza^[6][2]. Do rodzaju należą dwa gatunki^[7]:

• Artemisiospiza nevadensis – ćwirek plamkowany – takson wyodrębniony z A. belli^[8][9][2]
• Artemisiospiza belli – ćwirek białogardły

Przypisy

Artemisiospiza är ett nyskapat fågelsläkte i familjen amerikanska sparvar inom ordningen tättingar.^[1] Släktet omfattar numera två arter som förekommer från västra USA till Baja California i Mexiko:^[1]

• Malörtsparv (A. nevadensis)
• Bellsparv (A. belli)

Tidigare betraktades de som en och samma art och placerades i Amphispiza. Studier visade dock att detta inte var korrekt.^[2][3]
