Spilopelia is 'n genus van voëls in die familie van duiwe (Columbidae). Volgens die "IOC World Bird List" bevat die genus twee spesies. Verskeie ander bronne^[1] groepeer hierdie spesies saam met die genus Streptopelia.

Spilopelia is a genus of doves that are closely related to Streptopelia, yet distinguished from them by differences in morphology and behavior. Some authors have argued that Stigmatopelia is the valid name as it appears in an earlier line although also erected by the Swedish zoologist Carl Sundevall,^[1][a][3] but Richard Schodde and Ian J. Mason in their zoological catalogue of Australian birds chose Spilopelia citing clause 24(b) of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) which supports the decision of the first reviser.^[4][5] The name Spilopelia combines the Ancient Greek spilos meaning "spot" and peleia meaning "dove".^[6]

A phylogenetic position based on Johnson et al. (2001). A second possibility is that Columba is a sister of Streptopelia but the remaining clades appear to be monophyletic.^[7]

The genus includes just two species:^[8]

• Spotted dove, Spilopelia chinensis
• Laughing dove, Spilopelia senegalensis

Some ornithologists split the spotted dove into the eastern spotted dove (Spilopelia chinensis) and the western spotted dove (Spilopelia suratensis).^[9][10]

Spilopelia es un reducido género de aves columbiformes perteneciente a la familia Columbidae. Sus especies se distribuyen por África y Asia, llegando hasta las islas menores de la Sonda por oriente y los Balcanes por occidente.^[2]​ Sus dos miembros son tórtolas que anteriormente se clasificaban en el género Streptopelia, pero fueron separados cuando se comprobaron sus diferencias genéticas, además de las morfológicas y de comportamiento.

• Spilopelia chinensis – tórtola moteada;
• Spilopelia senegalensis – tórtola senegalesa.

Spilopelia adalah satu genus burung dalam Columbidae yang bersaudara rapat dengan Streptopelia, tapi dibezakan dari segi morfologi dan kelakukan. Beberapa pengarang bertikai bahawa Stigmatopelia adalah nama yang sah kerana ia muncul dalam garis sebelumnya meskipun kedua-duanya disusun oleh Sundevall,^[1][2] tetapi Schodde dan Mason dalam katalog zoologi mereka berkaitan dengan burung-burung di Australia memilih Spilopelia dengan memetik klausa 24(b) dalam Kod ICZN yang mana menyokong keputusan semakan pertama.^[3]

Satu kedudukan pilogenetik berdasarkan pada Johnson et al. (2001). Kemungkinan kedua di mana Columba adalah lebih tua bagi Streptopelia tetapi clade selebihnya kemungkinan monopiletik.^[4]

Spilopelia är ett fågelsläkte i familjen duvor inom ordningen duvfåglar.^[1] Släktet omfattar här två arter med utbredning i Afrika samt Asien från Turkiet via Mellanöstern och Indien till västra Kina och söderut ända till Stora Sundaöarna:^[2]

• Pärlhalsduva (S. chinensis)
  • S. c. suratensis – urskiljs som egen art av Birdlife International
• Palmduva (S. senegalensis)

Spilopelia inkluderas ofta med turturduvor och turkduvor i Streptopelia av bland andra BirdLife Sverige och Clements et al 2015.^[2] DNA-studier visar dock att arterna är närmare släkt med duvorna i Nesoenas och faktiskt Columba än med övriga arter i Streptopelia.^[3][4]
