Geranium vulcanicola Small, sp. nov
Perennial, the caudex usually branched. Stems spreading or decumbent, 2- dm. long, finelv pubescent with rather lax or somewhat appressed retrorse hairs ; leaf-blades pentagonal-reniform in outline, 2-4 cm. wide, 3-5-parted, the divisions incised and toothed, sparingly hirsute or somewhat appressed-pubescent on both sides ; petioles more copiously pubescent than the stem ; pedicels pubescent with spreading glandular hairs ; sepals minutely awn-tipped, the outer ones 5.5-6.5 mm. long, the bodies oblong-ovate, pubescent with spreading glandular hairs ; petals white, veinless, slightly longer than the sepals ; style-column 11-12 mm. long, abruptly short-beaked, pubescent with spreading glandular hairs; carpel-bodies about 3 mm. long, nearly glabrous ; seeds nearly 2 mm. long, smooth.
Type collected on Ixtaccihuatl, Mexico, October, 1905, C. A. Pit rp us 1691. Distribution : Middle Mexico.

Geranium vulcanicola is a plant species native to central Mexico. Type locale is on the slopes of Ixtaccíhuatl (also spelled Iztaccíhuatl) Volcano east of Mexico City, on the boundary of the State of México and the State of Puebla.[1]
Geranium vulcanicola is a perennial herb. Stems are spreading or decumbent, up to 40 cm (16 inches) long. Leaves are palmately 3-5-lobed, kidney-shaped to pentagonal in general outline, up to 4 cm (1.6 inches) across. Sepals are green, up to 7 mm (0.3 inches) long, tipped with awns. Petals are white, slightly long than the sepals.[2][3]
