Test: ovoid, clear, membranous, flexible; attached particles. The key character are the hair-like, 8 to 10 µm long spines. Pseudostome: terminal of variable shape. Endoplasm: grey, granular, one or two contractile vacuoles. Nucleus according to De Saedeleer (1934) ovular. Longitudinal division? Feeding: herbivore. Habitat: freshwater plants, rare. Two species, Type species: Diaphoropodon mobile Archer, 1869.
