Oligohymenophoran ciliates, usually with 3 left oral polykinetids with long axis of polykinetid (peniculus) parallel to long axis of oral cavity; alveoli between kinetosomal rows of oral polykinetids; right paroral dikinetid reduced, but present throughout interphase; no cyrtos, but nematodesmata may be associated with oral and perioral kinetosomes; trichocysts present; stomatogenesis involving ophryo-kineties (when present) or an anarchic field and the paroral dikinetid.
