Lithostege excelsata (Erschov, 1874)
Taxonomy. This species belongs to the “amoenata group” (sensu Rajaei Sh. et al, 2011). This ratherly heterogeneous group consists of: L. amoenata Christoph, 1885; L. excelsata (Erschov, 1874) and L. distinctata Christoph, 1887. The members of this group are characterized by plain, sclerotised valves without any basal ornamentation. Valves tapering in width towards apex, with acute, curved distal processes (amoenata) or not tapering and broadly rounded (excelsata) or with a short, rounded process dorsally at apex (distinctata). Saccus rounded or extended triangularly. Females with or without a diverticulum.
Distribution. This species distributed in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, S Tajikistan and Kasachstan (see Map 1 in Rajaei Sh. et al. 2011).
Bionomics. Larvae feed on Astragalus.
