Inhabit rocky pools of headwaters and creeks (Ref. 5723, 10294). Feed on midge larvae and microcrustaceans (Ref. 10294). Eggs are found clustered on underside of stone and guarded by males (Ref. 7043).

Etheostoma striatulum és una espècie de peix de la família dels pèrcids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.[3]
Morfologia
- Pot assolir els 5,6 cm de llargària màxima,[4] tot i que la seua mida normal és de 3,8.[5]

Reproducció
Té lloc des de mitjans del març fins a principis del maig: els ous són dipositats agrupats a sota de pedres i custodiats pels mascles. La maduresa sexual és assolida en un any i pocs individus viuen el suficient temps per a una segona temporada de fresa.[6][7]
Alimentació
Menja larves de mosquits i microcrustacis.[7]
Hàbitat
És d'aigua dolça, bentopelàgic i de clima subtropical (37°N-35°N).[8]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba a Nord-amèrica: els gorgs, els rierols i la capçalera de la conca del riu Duck[4] a cinc comtats del centre de Tennessee (els Estats Units).[9][7][5][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][8][19][20]
Estat de conservació
Les seues principals amenaces són la degradació del seu hàbitat a causa de les males pràctiques agrícoles (com ara, l'abocament directe dels fems del bestiar als rierols on viu, la qual cosa causa l'exhauriment de l'oxigen de l'aigua) i la sedimentació.[20]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans.[8]

The striated darter (Etheostoma striatulum) is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish, a darter from the subfamily Etheostomatinae, part of the family Percidae, which also contains the perches, ruffes and pikeperches. It is endemic to the eastern United States. It occurs in the Duck River system in Tennessee. It inhabits rocky pools in creeks. This species can reach a length of 5.6 centimetres (2.2 in) TL though most only reach about 3.8 centimetres (1.5 in).

Etheostoma striatulum es una especie de peces de la familia Percidae en el orden de los Perciformes.
Morfología
Los machos pueden llegar alcanzar los 5,6 cm de longitud total.[2]
Distribución geográfica y hábitat
Se encuentran en Tennessee en Estados Unidos. Viven en ríos pequeños y arroyos con sitios de agua calamada, piedras y raíces de árboles para refugio. Los huevos se desarrollan debajo de piedras grandes.[1]
Problemas ambientales
Estiércol echado al agua y suelo arrastrado a ríos y arroyos por la erosión diminuyen el contenido de oxígeno en el agua causando problemas para los peces Etheostoma striatulum. Actualmente se encuentran en estado vunerable según IUCN.[1]
