Distribució geogràfica
Es troba a les conques de Lagoa dos Patos i del riu Tramandaí (Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil).[4]

Vissen Cichlasoma portalegrense is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de cichliden (Cichlidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1870 door Hensel.
Leefwijze
Deze vis kan worden gehouden in een aquarium, maar is niet geschikt voor een gezelschapsbak. Het dier heeft een nogal agressief karakter, vooral in de paaitijd.
Verspreiding en leefgebied
Deze zoetwatersoort komt voor in Zuid-Amerika.

Występowanie
Okolice jeziora Lagoa dos Patos oraz dorzecze rzeki Tramandaí w stanie Rio Grande do Sul w południowej Brazylii.
Cechy morfologiczne
Osiąga do 10,5 cm długości.
Rozród
Samica składa do 500 ziaren ikry.
Znaczenie i hodowla
Nadaje się do hodowli w akwarium. Wymaga wody o temp. 16–24 °C, pH 6,5–7 i twardości dH 3–10.
