Voorkoms
Die vis het baie klein skubbetjies en die lyf is slank. Daar is 'n paar baarde om die mond. Die mannetjies het verskeie klein tuberkels op die kop. Die vis is olyf of grys-bruin tot donker blou aan die bokant en silwer-wit aan die onderkant. Daar is 'n donker, horisontale streep oor die lyf en donker kolle of golwende lyne op die rug. By die volwasse visse is die basis van die vinne skarlaken. Die vis word tot 130 mm lank.
Habitat
Die vis leef in poele en helder strome. Hulle vreet waterinsekte en broei in die somer. Die eiers word gelê in rotsskeure en tussen klippe en rotse. Die onvolwasse visse leef in skole saam in groter poele; die volwasse visse leef enkel of in klein groepies saam.
Die spesie is krities bedreigd en slegs ses kolonies van die vis bestaan nog. Hulle voortbestaan word belemmer deur die bou van damme, paaie en toeslikking van hul habitat. Ingevoerde forel bedreig ook die spesie. Die vis geniet beskerming in die Sehlabathebe Nasionale Park in Lesotho.

The Maluti redfin (Pseudobarbus quathlambae) is a ray-finned fish species in the family Cyprinidae. It is colloquially called the Maluti minnow, but it is not a true minnow.
It is Lesotho's only endemic freshwater fish, and threatened by the impact of invasive species, such as Smallmouth yellowfish.
