The species has a preference for rocky substrates, but also lives over sandy and muddy parts, especially in the shore area; absent from water deeper than 6 m; mainly a piscivore, but also eats small amounts of insects (Ref. 35835).

Alimentació
Menja sobretot peixos i petites quantitats d'insectes.[7]
Hàbitat
És un peix d'aigua dolça, bentopelàgic i de clima tropical (13°N-11°N) que viu entre 1-6 m de fondària.[5]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba a Àfrica: és un endemisme del llac Tana (Etiòpia).[5][8][9][10]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans.[5]
