Diagnosis: Zaireichthys dorae differs from all the other species of Zaireichthys in the relatively posterior position of the dorsal fin, which is 1.4 times further from the base of the caudal fin than from the snout, compared with 1.5-1.9 in Z. lacustris and 1.7-2.4 in all other species (Ref. 86935).Description: Pectoral fin spine with 4 or 5 large serrae (Ref. 51287). Humeral process moderately long, denticulations poorly developed (Ref. 51287). Neural and hemal processes relatively slender (Ref. 51287).

Voorkoms
Die vis het 'n lang, tapse lyf en daar is drie pare baarde om die mond. Die kop is kort en die oë rond. Die vis is deurskynend met spikkels en met klein bruin vlekke op en word tot 25 mm lank.
Habitat
Hulle leef in fyn sand areas waar hulle hul self begrawe sodat slegs die oë uitsteek.
